NEWS RELEASES > OCTOBER 16, 2025
Washington, D.C., Oct. 16, 2025 — All4Ed’s Future Ready Schools® (FRS) today announced the release of the Future Ready Librarians® Framework 3.0, an updated framework that positions school librarians as catalysts for learning, innovation, and equity in today’s rapidly changing educational landscape.
Originally launched in 2016 at ISTE alongside generous founding support from Follett Content, the Future Ready Librarians program has continually evolved to meet the needs of librarians, schools, and communities. Follett Content has remained a committed partner of the vibrant professional learning network. With more than 6,000 members and a growing social media community of 30,000, the program is stronger than ever — empowering librarians to lead educational transformation across the nation.
Updated with guidance from a national advisory group of leading librarians and innovators, Framework 3.0 reflects the evolving role of librarians in preparing students for life, learning, and work. The new version introduces priorities and language to address emerging literacies, responsible use of artificial intelligence, and the creation of inclusive, flexible learning environments.
Key Updates in Framework 3.0
“School librarians are uniquely positioned at the intersection of curriculum, technology, and student engagement,” said Amy Loyd, CEO of All4Ed. “Framework 3.0 ensures they have the vision and tools to lead in this moment — supporting multiple literacies, advancing equity, and helping schools integrate AI responsibly and ethically.”
Britten Follett, CEO of Follett Content, added, “Future Ready Librarians is my proudest accomplishment at Follett. We worked alongside All4Ed and library leaders to cultivate this guide for the library world on how to emerge as leaders. This framework helps define their job descriptions and has become a rubric for their self-evaluation. As the definition of Future Ready evolves, so should the role of an effective school librarian. Framework 3.0 is the perfect tool for librarians to have conversations with their principals and superintendents about the ways in which school librarians can continue to provide solutions to the literacy crisis and safely embrace new technologies.”
About Future Ready Librarians®
The Future Ready Librarians® Framework 3.0 is aligned with the broader Future Ready Schools® Framework and provides school and district leaders with a research-based guide for empowering librarians to lead, teach, and support educational transformation. Generously and continuously supported by Follett Content, the program offers webinars, summits, podcasts, and professional learning opportunities that elevate the role of librarians as leaders and innovators in education.
