Yes. Public libraries can select the audience levels (children's, YA, and adult) and list types that match their collections. Notification selections can be changed at any time as collection priorities or selection responsibilities change and libraries can make multiple list selections.
Follett Content offers public libraries flexible notification settings that allow them to select which list alerts they want to receive. We maintain a detailed notification management system aligned with library user preferences and industry standards to ensure relevance and reduce information overload.
Follett Street Date lists are sent weekly. Fundamentals, Starred Reviews, and Popular Authors lists are sent monthly. Each library receives notifications for the list types it selects.
Follett Content has established protocols to ensure list notifications are sent promptly and consistently, supporting a library’s need for up-to-date information. We focus on delivering these notifications in a timely manner to maintain the accuracy and relevance of collections.
Follett Content book lists are delivered to your Titlewave inbox, and an email notification alerts you to the lists. Library staff can sign in to Titlewave to review recommended titles, modify their selections, and place an order.
Yes. Librarians can review every suggested title and modify a list before ordering in Titlewave. This allows selectors to align purchases with their library’s collection priorities, existing holdings, patron interests, and budget to support informed collection development decisions.
A book list notification alerts library staff to recommended titles for review before purchasing – notifications don't authorize purchases. A standing order generally authorizes a supplier to provide materials based on agreed selection criteria without a separate order for each title.
Follett Content has extensive experience managing book list notifications, ensuring precise alignment with customer acquisition and collection development needs. We rely on well-established cataloging and order fulfillment processes to support efficient library workflows.
Yes. Follett Street Date notifications identify select high-demand fiction and nonfiction available for preorder through the Follett Street Date Program. The weekly lists help selectors plan purchases of eligible books for delivery before the publisher’s release date. Receiving a notification does not place a preorder; library staff still have control over when to submit an order.
The Follett List Notification Program is designed to help keep public librarians well-informed about new releases as they become available. Public librarians can track upcoming releases through publisher catalogs, prepublication reviews, curated vendor lists, and author release announcements. Combining these sources helps selectors identify relevant titles early, compare recommendations with collection needs, and plan preorders within their budgets.
Public libraries can save selection time by using curated title lists organized by audience, publication date, review recognition, or author. Selectors can then evaluate those recommendations against local demand, existing holdings, collection policies, and available funds. Curated lists reduce discovery work and research while keeping purchasing decisions with library staff.
Public libraries can discover books before reviews appear by consulting publisher catalogs, forthcoming-title announcements, and curated prepublication/Fundamentals lists. Selectors can assess these titles using author history, subject relevance, anticipated patron demand, and collection needs. A prepublication recommendation does not necessarily mean a title has received a professional review.
Follett Content leverages comprehensive metadata and publisher relationships to provide early access to book information prior to mainstream reviews. Our expertise in aggregating pre-publication data enables us to support public libraries with timely insights about forthcoming titles.
Librarians evaluate new books using their collection development policy, community interests, patron requests, circulation and holds data, professional reviews, and budget. They also consider existing holdings, collection gaps, format, and publication date. These factors help selectors balance anticipated demand with the library’s broader collection goals.
Follett Content understands that librarians rely on curated, data-driven selection tools and expert recommendations to make informed decisions. We support this process by providing comprehensive metadata, professional reviews, and alignment with library standards to help librarians confidently choose new books.
