Follett Challenge Video Voting to Begin Next Week

10 People’s Choice Award Winners to be Determined by Public’s Vote

MCHENRY, IL — The public voting will begin next week for the seventh annual Follett Challenge’s People’s Choice awards as the 133 schools and districts entered in this year’s competition vie for prizes worth $8,000 each in products and services from Follett. The 10 People’s Choice prizes will be awarded to those schools/districts that receive the highest number of online votes from the public for their three- to five-minute videos, which were submitted as part of the application process.

Voters are eligible cast one vote per day for their favorite videos from Monday (Jan. 22) through Friday, Jan. 26.

In all, the 2018 Follett Challenge will reward $200,000 in products and services from Follett to the schools/districts that have nominated their innovative educational programs that teach 21st-century skills to students. Separate from the People’s Choice winners, three semifinalists (one each from the categories of elementary, middle, and high schools) will be named with one ultimately earning the competition’s coveted Grand Prize. All semifinalists earn a $30,000 prize; the Grand Prize winner earns an additional $30,000 for a total of $60,000, plus a celebration at their school.

The semifinalists and People’s Choice video winners all will be unveiled in an online announcement Feb. 28. The Grand Prize winner, based 100 percent on the judges’ evaluations, will be made public April 27.

In the 2017 Follett Challenge, schools and districts from as many as 12 states, and of all sizes, were singled out for awards. This year’s application deadline was Dec. 15, 2017.
