Follett Introduces Follett Classroom Libraries

With wide selection of fiction and nonfiction texts, new hand-curated classroom content collections are designed to help students become engaged, confident, independent readers.

MCHENRY, IL – Follett today announced the launch of Follett Classroom Libraries, extending the company’s commitment to providing expert-curated collections of resources for teachers and students. Offering a wide selection of engaging K-12 titles from trusted publishers, Follett Classroom Libraries are designed to easily integrate into elementary, middle school, and high school curriculums, plus support teacher instruction and foster healthy independent student reading habits.

Whether for whole- or small-group instruction, or independent reading, each bundled library has been carefully created by Follett’s expert team of K-12 master’s-level educators with high-interest nonfiction and fiction texts and age level-appropriate texts.

Follett Classroom Libraries feature interactive lesson plans and extension activities to provide instructional support to encourage classroom engagement and participation. All lesson plans include home-school connection activities, helping to promote reading outside of the classroom.

“These bundles are designed around the way teachers teach and students learn,” said Britten Follett, Senior Vice President of Marketing Strategy and Classroom Initiatives, Follett School Solutions. “Follett Classroom Libraries are perfect for learners of every age and will provide them with high-quality, engaging, and diverse supplemental content to encourage a lifelong love of reading.”

All bundles are designed around Mentor Texts with Lesson Plans, Guided Reading Texts, and Independent Reading Texts. Three types of libraries are available with the launch:

  • Social and Emotional Learning
Each library includes engaging nonfiction and fiction texts selected for classroom instruction around the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning’s (CASEL) five core competencies: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
  • Next Generation Science Standards
The NGSS libraries are a diverse, vibrant cross-curricular supplemental resource aimed at activating students’ natural curiosities and challenging their misconceptions about the world by engaging them with aligned mentor, guided, and independent reading texts. To model the NGSS scope and sequence, libraries are available for each of the four domains: life science, Earth and space science, physical science, and engineering and technology.
  • Striving Readers
With high-interest nonfiction and fiction texts, the Striving Readers library will engage all students, but especially those who are reading at or below grade-level expectations and striving to improve. Each library includes grade and age level-appropriate titles, such as Grade 3 Heroes and Grade 7 Unexplained Mysteries.

These new libraries also can be purchased in combination with the Follett’s Classroom Ready Collections, which debuted late last year and offer vetted and aligned digital libraries of Open Educational Resources (OERs) content for ELA, Science, and Social Studies.

“In our daily conversations with educators, they ask for teaching resources aligned to texts,” said Meg Graham, Director of Education Strategy and Curations. “We are excited to provide these in our new libraries, and preliminary feedback from teachers has been incredible.”

This is the second major product launch from Follett this month. Earlier, Follett unveiled Follett MyDestiny™, a powerful new learning platform that combines an expansive library of ebooks and Open Educational Resources with built-in artificial intelligence to help teachers find quality, standards-aligned resources and to guide students on their learning path from discovery to mastery.
