What We're Reading - March 2025 Edition

Each month, What We’re Reading features reflections on current reads from Follett Content team members. It’s a blog where our collective lifelong love of reading takes center stage!

This month, we’re highlighting three incredible individuals who support our new school services, working tirelessly to ensure the successful launches of new schools and programs all around the country.

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow: A Novel

By Gabrielle Zevin

Reviewed by Jessica Bitterman – Marketing Director

“This has been on my to-read list for a while. It’s the story of two childhood friends who grow up to build video games together in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s. Their work skyrockets them to stardom, and the story investigates the ways in which their relationship evolves over time. While I’m no gamer, the story of their artistry, creativity, love, and respect for one another has kept me turning the pages. The author’s descriptions of the scenes in the video game are beautiful, and its storyline, about a nonbinary child lost at sea in a tsunami finding their way home, is one we can all relate to when feeling a bit lost.”

About Jessica

Jessica started at Follett Content in 2018 as Marketing Manager and has been Marketing Director since 2022. Hollow Kingdom

By Kira Jane Buxton

Reviewed by Danielle Black – Senior Bid Specialist

“Think Animal Farm and Watership Down meet The Walking Dead. This was a recommendation from a podcast I enjoy, and it sounded too interesting to pass up. It’s the first in a duology series, focusing on a foul-mouthed domesticated crow, S.T. As society collapses amidst a zombie apocalypse, S.T. witnesses humanity’s downfall. Alongside his fellow pet, Dennis the Bloodhound, he journeys through a world where humans are turning on each other. I’ve audibly laughed at several parts in the book, as, despite the above description, it’s a dramedy containing many thought-provoking passages about the human condition.”

About Danielle

Danielle joined Follett Content in 2005. Over the years, she’s held various roles that have provided valuable experience in handling customer bids. Originally from McHenry, Illinois, her connection to the area led her to Follett Content. She now resides in Round Lake with her husband of 23 years and their three sons. In her free time, when she’s not cheering on her boys in their many sports, Danielle enjoys reading, listening to true crime podcasts, and, most recently, crocheting – creating an array of small stuffed animals.

The Return of the King

By J. R. R. Tolkien

Reviewed by Emily Nicolosi – Senior Customer Operations Coordinator

“I am an avid reader, but one of my boys doesn’t share my passion. When he recently expressed an interest in The Lord of the Rings movies, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to reread the series and perhaps inspire him to give them a try. While I haven’t been successful yet, I have been carried away into a familiar fantastical land that is magical and wondrous. I look forward to this final installment as we journey along with our favorite hobbit antiheroes and their friends to save the world!”
