Best Books Exploration: 2025 ALA YMA Contenders

DEC

10

One of our most popular webinars is back, with valuable insight on the best books! Join us as our experts discuss their contenders for the ALA Youth Media Awards (YMA) to help you prepare now for the best library collection you can offer your students.

This presentation will give you the information you need to fill your shelves with the best books to have in the new year. Our experienced panel – two forward-thinking current librarians, a former librarian, and a former educator (and Follett Content advisors!) – will share their ALA YMA contenders and why educators and students will love them. They’ll explore what makes a book a contender for these prestigious awards, what makes a title stand out in their expert opinions, and what makes a YMA-winning book so special.

This team of book experts is ready to share their experiences with you. They’ve done the research and exploration and will present the most unique and compelling books they’ve learned about and the books they believe will enrich every library.

Attendees will learn:
• About the books gaining attention and potential contenders for the ALA YMAs
• Why to consider adding award-winning books to a school library collection
• Insights into determining which books will be award winners
• Why award-winning books are important to all readers
• Our experts’ picks for the Caldecott, Newbery, Belpré, and more

Panelists:
• Tom Bober, School Librarian
• Alexandra Cornejo, School Librarian
• Mary Hazel, Classroom Content and Curation Specialist
• Roberta Starck, Curriculum Bibliographer

And moderated by Britten Follett, CEO of Follett Content.
