Different Types of Texts: The What, Why, and How for Elementary Classrooms

JAN

21

Join us for this informative presentation designed to help you understand the different types of texts you might use with students and determine when to use them. You may have heard of decodables, hi-lo books, authentic literature, graphic novels, and other types of texts, but how do you know which ones to use with your students?

Join us for this informative webinar, during which our experienced literacy coach will walk you through the different types of texts you might use with students–even those who struggle. We'll explore teaching reading to early readers (and the critical nature of decodable texts at this age) and we’ll discuss how to shift into other types of texts that inspire a love of reading and help students at all stages experience success.

In this informative presentation, you’ll learn:

  • Why different texts are important for different purposes
  • How to use different types of texts in the elementary classroom
  • Instructional strategies for different types of texts you can start using right away
  • When and how to use graphic novels and hi-lo books
