Reading and literacy are essential parts of our lives, and there are numerous events throughout the year dedicated to celebrating and promoting these important skills. • National Science Fiction Day (January 2): Host an online book fair tied to science fiction novels.
• Library Shelfie Day (Fourth Wednesday): After your Book eFair ends, invite your students to share photos of their bookshelves and favorite reads they purchased.

February

• National Library Lovers Month: Celebrate your school library by hosting a Book eFair during the month of February.
• Children’s Authors and Illustrators Week (First week): Create a “recommendation list” within your Book eFair highlighting your favorite books and authors, and then organize readings and Q&A sessions with authors and/or illustrators.

• National Poetry Month: Host a poetry-themed Book eFair and celebrate with daily poetry readings.
• National Library Week (Second week): Highlight the importance of libraries with special events and guest speakers the week of your Book eFair.
• D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) Day (April 12): Encourage everyone to take a break and read for at least 30 minutes the week of your online book fair.
