ALL BOOKS & HANDS-ON LISTS > 2025 ALA AWARD WINNERS & CONTENDERS
The Michael L. Printz Award for Excellence in Young Adult Literature is an annual award to recognize the best book written for teens. It is named in honor of Michael L. Printz, a librarian known for his passion for young adult literature and dedication to connecting teens with great books.
This award evaluates outstanding works for excellence in writing, storytelling, character development, and overall impact in young adult (YA) literature. The Printz Award considers all genres and formats, including fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and graphic novels. The book must have been published in the United States or be available in English.
Books that win the Printz Award have included complex themes, including identity, relationships, social issues, and coming-of-age experiences, and are widely recognized for their powerful impact and appeal to both young adult and adult readers.
Our expert certified librarians at Follett Content compile a list of contenders for Michael L. Printz Award. This list is available for educators to research, share, or download a PDF of the list with our free export options.
