ALL BOOKS & HANDS-ON LISTS > 2025 ALA AWARD WINNERS & CONTENDERS
Established in 2001, the Robert F. Sibert Informational Book Medal is given to the author(s) and illustrator(s) of the most distinguished informational book published in the United States in the preceding year.
The award aims to recognize and honor outstanding nonfiction books for children, particularly those that promote inquiry, knowledge, and discovery through high-quality writing, illustrations, and presentation. The Sibert Medal is awarded to one winner, but there are often honor books named each year as well, which are recognized as exceptional even if they do not receive the top award.
Books considered for the Sibert Medal can include biographies, scientific texts, historical books, and other genres that aim to educate young readers about the world around them.
Our expert certified librarians at Follett Content compile a list of contenders for the Robert F. Sibert Informational Book Medal. This list is available for educators to research, share, or download a PDF of the list with our free export options.
