Enrich Learning with Book Clubs in the Classroom and Library

Join us at 4:00pm CT as two award-winning educators, librarian Carrie Friday and classroom teacher John Arthur, discuss everything they love about book clubs and how they use them to enrich comprehension, collaboration, literacy, student voice, and more!

Friday and Arthur will share different models using student book clubs successfully in a variety of library and classroom settings. They’ll also explore the research that supports book clubs as learning tools and share best practices, examples, and practical strategies and tips for educators interested in starting a book club of their own.

Participants will learn:

• How to run an effective book club, with step-by-step strategies
• Tips and tricks to get started, along with discussion questions
• Why reading books about diverse characters by diverse authors is beneficial to all students
• How to find book clubs that are age-appropriate and vetted while representative of diverse communities and perspectives
• How to pay for book clubs
